Data Mining, Knowledge Discovery, and Data - Knowledge Fusion views the existing data
and knowledge in your company as a strategic source for new opportunities. Data Mining
and Knowledge Discovery has been defined in the literature as "the non-trivial extraction
of implicit, previously unknown and potentially useful knowledge from data". Data - knowledge
Fusion on the other hand, is the amalgamation of data driven solutions (usually the outcome
of the Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery) with corporate business rules or company's existing
knowledge and expertise for development of powerful solutions to address specific problems.
Data Mining, Knowledge Discovery, and Data - Knowledge Fusion is the art of combining simple and
sophisticated tools and techniques in a multi-disciplinary field of research and development that
requires a fundamental understanding and experience in harmonic application of technologies such
as machine learning, statistics, database technology, expert systems, uncertainty and ambiguity
management, and data visualization.
